Myrtle Rough finds the energy for a smile as she competes in the 1500m on the final day of Athletics Otago interclub action for the year at the Caledonian Ground on Saturday.

Rough (82) added another trophy to her cabinet at the weekend when she was named New Zealand masters middle distance athlete of the year.

Among those she beat for the award was Olympic triathlete Andrea Hewitt.
