After a breakthrough season, Catherine Lund (Ariki) was awarded the Emerging Talent Award at the Otago Awards held 9 June 2023.  Picutured with her coach Alan Moir (AJ), who has coached Catherine since she was 13 years old. AJ installs a philosophy of focusing on the long view “to have athletes still running and wanting to run in their 20s and beyond”.  With a focus on balance, by promoting modest training schedules to prevent injury, has meant that Catherine has gradually worked her way into becoming one of New Zealand’s top middle distance runners for her age.

At the recent Athletics Otago Awards, Catherine received both the Winter Female and Junior Summer Awards.
